Part-time days from 7am to 3pm
As a registered practical nurse, your typical day will be impacted in the following ways:
- Prepare and administer prescribed and routine medications and treatments as directed by a physician and in accordance with the Ontario College of Nurses’ Medication Administration Standards.
- Document and follow up on all concerns and complaints raised by a client, family, or staff member and inform/seek assistance from the registered nurse or designee.
- Promote client self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasize adaptation and skills, promote well-being, and provide preventive health education, thus treating the whole person.
- Complete all necessary assessments, RAPS and care plans within required timeframes.
Support unregulated healthcare professionals through guidance, direction, training and education. - Perform other tasks as assigned.
Essential items:
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Current medication administration certificate.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
- All candidates must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
As part of the legislative requirements, all successful candidates must meet provincial requirements - police verification and tuberculosis screening requirements, as applicable.
Bonus points for having:
Postgraduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration are a plus.
